Want to show emotes from chat on your stream?
In this article, we will teach you how to use KappaGen to incorporate your favorite emotes into 'Emotesplosions' or separately from alerts when using the !kappagen command!
How to setup KappaGen:
Step 1: From your dashboard, navigate to 'Streaming Tools' and select 'Overlays'
Step 2: Select 'New Overlay'
Step 3: Once in the overlay editor, select 'Add Widget'
Step 4: Navigate & hover over 'Alerts' to bring up the KappGen alert:
From there you will see that the settings are divided into two tabs:
Above them, you will see some general options that will affect both tabs:
- Bounding Box: You can stretch the widget's bounding box to cover the entire canvas in the editor and toggle on the first option to make sure KappaGen is shown all over the screen. (Note: In order to stretch, just select the bottom right corner of the box as shown in the image below and stretch to the width of the screen.)
- Enable seasonal hats: Seasonal hats will enable things like Santa's hat!
- Emote size: this allows you to customize the size of emotes shown on-screen. (Note: We'd recommend not using huge sizes for emotes - it might cause a bit of delay to your stream if the widget is required to generate a large number of big emotes. Play around with the numbers while you're live to see what you like best that does not affect the stream.)
Chat Emotes Setup Info:
Chat Emotes will will result in emotes that are sent in chat to be displayed on screen with a certain or random animation.
Note: The Chat Emotes tab will show on stream what emotes or emote combos are being sent in chat!
You have a few different options to select from when setting these up:
- Animation Option: select from 5 options in the drop-down how you want the emotes to appear on your stream:
- Combo mode: means that when emote combos (a chat bot module that should be enabled) are sent in chat, the widget will display it in the overlay. Set it up as you wish:
Additional options: You can also decide if emojis are enabled for everyone, or only subscriber's emotes will trigger the widget.
Set the amount of emotes per user per second and the emotes duration on screen. You can save the overlay then, and test in chat by sending out emotes!
How to add Custom Emotes to KappaGen:
Press the cog wheel on the right of 'Custom Emotes' to add your custom emotes to KappaGen:If the file is an animated gif, make sure the checkbox is ticked.
If you have experience with regex and you want this custom emote to be triggered based on certain text patterns, tick that checkbox and set the regex.
Otherwise, type the exact text to match from chat that will trigger the custom emote from the KappaGen widget.
Emotesplosions Setup Info:
Emotesplosions will literally blow your screen up with emotes!
Note: Emotesplosions will be triggered by events while the !kappagen command will trigger random Emotesplosion types.
Similar to Chat Emotes, you have a few different options to select from when setting these up:
- Animation Option: select from 5 options in the drop-down how you want the emotes to appear on your stream:
- Alert Types: determine which events should trigger your Emotesplosion:
- Emotes to Show: Choose amount of emotes to be displayed overall.
- Select Emotes: select the emotes you want enabled for Emotesplosions by clicking the button as shown in the image below:
From there you can select which emotes you want to appear in the Emotesplosion:
You should now be ready for some awesome emote fun during your stream!
Key Item to Note: Like previous guides, we would also suggest to add the KappaGen widget into its own dedicated overlay. You don't have to, of course, but it just provides an additional layer of control over the browser source (and in turn, visuals on stream).
