Overlays Troubleshooting

Purpose:
This guide helps troubleshoot common issues with overlays (alerts and widgets) in OBS, including missing overlays, stuttering, and other display problems.

 

Resolution

  • Make sure the Overlay is added with the correct resolution in OBS: Most of the times, it will be 1920x1080

Hardware Acceleration

  • Try enabling or disabling hardware acceleration (depending on its current state):
    • Go to OBS Settings > Advanced > Enable Browser Source Hardware Acceleration

Overlay URL

  • Double-check the overlay URL and re-add it if needed
    • Go to your Overlays page
    • Locate the Overlay
    • Click the three dots
    • Click "Copy URL"
    • Right click the corresponding OBS Source and go to Properties
    • Paste the URL and click "OK"

 

NOTE: If the alerts aren't working make sure that you don't have your alerts muted/paused on your activity feed.
