What It Is:
Dual Format Streaming allows you to send both a horizontal and a vertical version of your broadcast to Twitch simultaneously. This lets you reach more viewers with an optimized experience—no matter what device they’re using.
Desktop and TV viewers will continue to see your standard horizontal broadcast.
Mobile viewers will see a new, full-screen vertical view when holding their phone upright, or the standard horizontal view when they rotate their device.

Dual Format Streaming – FAQ
1. Is Dual Format Streaming available to everyone?
No. Dual Format Streaming is currently in Open Beta, and streamers must apply for Twitch’s Dual Output Beta to activate the feature.
🔹 Note: StreamElements does not control access — approval is managed directly by Twitch.
2. What happens after I’m approved for the Twitch Dual Output Beta?
Once both the Twitch Dual Output Beta and the SE.Live Public Beta are active, Dual Output becomes automatic.
You only need to select your SE.Live canvas in OBS — no additional configuration is required.
3. What if I try to stream without Twitch Beta access?
If you attempt to stream without being accepted into the Twitch Dual Output Beta, you’ll see an error message in OBS when trying to go live.
4. Which version of SE.Live do I need?
You must install the Public Beta version of SE.Live (not the stable release) to access Dual Format Streaming features.
5. What should I do if OBS crashes while using Dual Format Streaming?
If you experience crashes, we recommend rolling back to OBS version 31, which resolves most known issues.
OBS version 32 currently has stability issues affecting multiple plugins, including SE.Live.
6. Can I use both SE.Live and Aitum Vertical plugins together?
No. Do not install both the SE.Live Plugin and the Aitum Vertical Plugin at the same time.
Running both may cause instability or crashes in OBS.
If Aitum Vertical is installed, remove it before enabling SE.Live Dual Format Streaming.
Setting Up Dual Format Streaming with SE.Live:
Before getting started, make sure your system meets the minimum requirements listed in the table. Once confirmed, follow these steps:
Step 1: Install the SE.Live OBS Plugin
Download and install the latest version of the SE.Live plugin from streamelements.com/selive.
In the installer, select the BETA version.
Be sure to exit OBS before installing the plugin.
Step 2: Enable Enhanced Broadcasting in OBS
Open OBS.
Go to Settings > Stream.
Check the box labeled “Enhanced Broadcasting” under Multitrack Streaming to enable it.
Once enabled, you can select any canvas you created with SE.Live as your Additional Canvas in the same window.
Step 3: Configure Your Vertical Layout in OBS
Add your vertical scenes and sources in OBS.
You can reuse existing assets or design custom vertical layouts optimized for mobile viewing.
Preview your vertical layout to make sure key elements—such as your camera, overlays, and alerts—fit properly within the vertical frame.
Step 4: Link Your Vertical and Horizontal Scenes
Ensure your horizontal and vertical scenes are linked so both versions broadcast together.
Step 5: Start Streaming in Dual Format
When you go live, both stream layouts will broadcast simultaneously to Twitch.
💡 Pro Tip: Do a short test stream and preview it on a mobile device to confirm that all vertical elements display correctly.
Known Issues
Deleted canvases will still appear in the Twitch canvas selection drop-down menu with a warning symbol labeled “Inactive.”
Currently, there is no way to remove these inactive canvases, as the issue is caused by a known OBS bug.
OBS is aware of the problem and is actively working on a fix, though there is no estimated time of arrival (ETA) yet.
