We wanted to make sure the item configuration flow is understood without overloading the article explaining how to set up sound commands. The article was basically copy pasted but the major setup step was edited to be specific to stream perks rather than sound commands.
Step-by-Step Guide to Configuring Stream Perks
-
Create an Item in the Stream Store:
- Name and Description: Set the item name and description as desired.
- Cooldown Settings and Cost: Configure the cooldown settings and set a cost for the item.
- Item Type: Select 'Stream Perk' and click 'Next'.
Upload Your Video:
- Click 'CHANGE ALERT ASSET' and choose your video from the library.
Important Notes:
-
Video Preview:
- If the video preview is not visible, try exporting the video in a different format. For .mp4 files, H.264 format is recommended over HEVC (H.265).
- The video preview indicates successful upload and playback readiness.
-
Audio Handling:
- If a sound file is uploaded, it will override the audio in the video file.
- No need to upload a separate sound file if the video file already contains audio.
-
Text-to-Speech (TTS):
- To allow users to add a text message to the alert, include the
${1:}
variable in the command. This ensures the entire message is read out by TTS. - Standard tipping moderation rules apply.
- To allow users to add a text message to the alert, include the
-
Thumbnail:
- The "Preview asset" is a thumbnail displayed in your stream store and does not affect the redeemed alert on screen.
Setting Up Redemption Commands for Stream Perks
After uploading your assets, you need to enable the desired forms of redemption and specify if the item is for subscribers only.
Create the Command:
- Go to your custom commands page.
- Create a command with a name of your choice.
- Set the command response to
${redeem item_name_here}
.
It's helpful to use the same name for the item and the command for easy recall. For example:
- Item name:
ez4ence
- Item command:
!ez4ence
- Command response:
${redeem ez4ence}
NOTE: If users can add a message, the command should be ${redeem ez4ence${1:}}
to include the entire message in TTS.
Create or Edit an Overlay:
- Navigate to My Overlays.
- Create a new overlay or edit an existing one.
- In the overlay editor, add the Store Redemption widget.
- Remove the default assets (video, sound, text) from the widget to use your custom settings.
- Save the overlay.
Note:
- During testing, enable the command for both online and offline states. Once set up, limit the command to work only when you are live.
- You can also choose to hide the command from your public Stream Store.
