Purpose:
SE.Pay is moving to Stripe! This article answers the most common questions about the transition — what's changing, how to set up your Stripe account, what happens to your existing SE.Pay Legacy balance, and how your personal information is handled.
The Transition
-
What's happening to SE.Pay?
- SE.Pay is moving to Stripe, which will become the new payment processor for tips. To continue receiving tips through StreamElements with credit cards (in addition to PayPal), you'll need to transition to a Stripe account.
-
Do I have to create a Stripe account?
- Yes. To continue receiving credit card tips through StreamElements, you will need to set up a Stripe account. The process is quick and straightforward.
-
How do I create an account with Stripe?
- The next section outlines the exact process. It's straightforward.
-
When will the legacy SE.Pay stop working?
- The legacy SE.Pay can no longer receive tips and will be completely discontinued on December 31, 2026. Make sure to withdraw your remaining balance before this date.
-
What happens if I don't set up Stripe?
- You will not be able to receive tips from Credit Cards.
-
Will my viewers notice any change?
- The tipping experience for your viewers will remain largely the same. They may see Stripe branding on the payment form instead of SE.Pay Legacy branding.
-
Can I still receive tips with PayPal?
- Yes, PayPal tipping remains available and is not affected by this change. Stripe will replace SE.Pay Legacy for card-based tips only.
-
Where is SE.Pay in the dashboard menu under Revenue? I remember it used to be there
- This menu item is no longer there. Go to Tipping Settings under Revenue to "Connect" and "Manage" your Stripe account.
-
How do I withdraw money and see my transactions? I remember it used to be under SE.Pay
- We no longer show your transactions nor allow you to withdraw from the StreamElements dashboard. This is all happening from the Stripe dashboard.
-
How can I change the code that is displayed in the credit card statement of my tippers?

Your SE.Pay Legacy Balance
-
What happens to my existing SE.Pay Legacy balance?
- Your existing SE.Pay Legacy balance will remain available for withdrawal until the discontinuation date. Make sure to withdraw your balance before the deadline.
-
Will my SE.Pay Legacy (Adyen) balance transfer to Stripe?
- No — there's no automatic transfer. Withdraw your remaining balance with the existing withdraw button. Your SE.Pay Legacy wallet stays accessible until the end of the year.
-
I got a Stripe donation but my SE.Pay Legacy balance shows 0.
-
That's expected. The SE.Pay Legacy balance only shows funds from the old system. New tips go directly to your Stripe balance — see Stripe Dashboard → Balances. Stripe then pays out to your bank on your payout schedule.
Heads up: the very first payout on a new Stripe account can take around 7 days while Stripe verifies it; after that, it's faster.
-
-
I didn't withdraw my SE.Pay Legacy balance in time. What should I do?
- If you missed the withdrawal deadline, please contact StreamElements support for assistance with your remaining balance. You can email us at support@streamelements.com.
Privacy & Security
-
Is my personal information secure?
- Yes. Stripe is a PCI Level 1 certified payment processor with industry-leading security, fraud protection, and identity verification systems.
-
Why do tippers see business details on their bank statement at all?
- With SE.Pay powered by Stripe, tips are processed on your own Stripe account — you're the merchant, like any online store. Card networks require every merchant to provide public contact details, and banks may print them next to the charge.
-
Stripe shows my date of birth and personal details — can tippers see those?
- No. That page is your own Stripe Dashboard, visible only to you when logged in. Tippers never see your date of birth, email, or street address.
